By downloading, installing, starting a trial, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using SkillWood, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What SkillWood is

SkillWood is a do-it-yourself woodworking app. It provides step-by-step project plans, cut lists, material lists and drawings, tools for organising your workshop and your own builds, and AI-assisted features that analyse photographs you submit — for example identifying a wood species, estimating the value of a finished piece, suggesting a repair, or generating a project outline from a description and reference photos.

SkillWood is an information and reference product. It is not a professional engineering, structural, safety, appraisal or valuation service, and it does not replace the judgement of a qualified professional.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use SkillWood. Woodworking involves sharp tools, power tools, dust and chemicals, and the Service is intended for adults. By using the Service you confirm that you are 18 or over and that your use complies with the laws of your country or region. If you allow a minor to use the App, you do so under your own supervision and responsibility.

3. Licence

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to download and use one copy of SkillWood on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service and the Usage Rules in Apple’s Media Services Terms and Conditions. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by us.

4. Subscriptions and payments

Core parts of SkillWood are available free of charge. Full access to the project library and the AI tools requires SkillWood Pro, an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple In-App Purchase. The following terms apply, in line with Apple’s requirements:

5. Safety — read this before you build

Woodworking is dangerous. Saws, routers, chisels, sanders, finishes, adhesives and wood dust can cause serious injury, permanent disability, fire, respiratory harm or death.

You are solely responsible for your own safety and for the safety of anyone around you. You agree that you will:

Plans, drawings, measurements, material lists and AI results may contain errors, may not suit your materials or conditions, and are provided for general guidance only. You use them entirely at your own risk.

6. AI features and the content you submit

When you use an AI feature, the photographs and text you submit are sent to our servers and processed by our AI provider so that a result can be returned to you. How that data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.

7. Acceptable use

You agree to use SkillWood only for lawful, personal purposes. You may not:

Breach of this section may result in suspension or termination of access without refund.

8. Intellectual property

SkillWood, its software, name, logo, design, and all project content — plans, drawings, cut lists, instructions, photographs and text — are owned by THE BIG BOX SRL or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

What you may do: build the projects for yourself, print or export plans for your own workshop use, and sell physical items that you personally build from a plan.

What you may not do: distribute, publish or resell the plans, drawings or other content themselves, in any format, whether free or paid, or present them as your own.

9. Third-party services

We use third-party providers for distribution and payments, subscription management, AI processing, hosting and support chat. They process limited data on our behalf under contract, as set out in our Privacy Policy. The App may also link to third-party websites and content that we do not control and are not responsible for.

10. Availability and changes to the Service

We aim to keep SkillWood available and up to date, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may add, change, suspend or discontinue features, content or the Service as a whole, for example for maintenance, security, legal reasons or changes in third-party services. Where a change materially reduces what you have paid for, you may cancel your subscription; your mandatory consumer rights are unaffected.

11. Termination

You may stop using SkillWood at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting the App. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, use the Service unlawfully, or create a risk or legal exposure for us or other users. Upon termination your licence ends immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law — survive termination.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SkillWood is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free, that content, measurements or AI results will be accurate, complete or suitable for your purpose, or that defects will be corrected. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you; nothing here limits the legal guarantee of conformity owed to consumers under EU and Italian law.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, THE BIG BOX SRL shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including damage, injury or loss resulting from your use of plans, drawings, measurements, materials or AI-generated results.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you actually paid to us or through the Service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 100.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including the mandatory rights of consumers under EU and Italian law.

14. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless THE BIG BOX SRL and its directors, employees and agents from any claim, damage, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, the content you submit, or your infringement of the rights of a third party.

15. Apple-specific terms

The following applies to the App obtained through the Apple App Store:

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always available in the App and at skillwood.ai. Material changes will be notified in the App or by other appropriate means before they take effect. Continuing to use SkillWood after an update means you accept the revised Terms; if you do not accept them, cancel your subscription and stop using the Service.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Italy — provided that, if you are a consumer resident in the EU/EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence and may bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence.

Consumers in the EU may also use the European Commission’s Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We would prefer to resolve any issue directly first — please write to support@skillwood.ai.

18. General

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force, and the invalid provision will be interpreted so as to achieve its intended purpose as far as the law allows. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or transfer of assets. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. These Terms are drafted in English; a translation, if provided, is for convenience only.
